There are some earlier ones worth nothing…
John Brunner’s Stand on Zanzibar (1968)
Wilson Tucker’s The Year of the Quiet Sun (1970)
Two vintage SF classics.

In The Year of the Quiet Sun you don’t find out until the end — entirely on purpose.
And in Stand on Zanzibar the entire idea is that a homogeneous culture has emerged due to overpopulation.
Both are incredibly radical.
