Ok, so that’s a “nod.” But, when a person watches the white characters praise each other for their scientific brilliance and the only black one in the bunch works for public transit…it feels like crap. Frankly, this stuff is reaching the point of absurdity.

Yeah, these trailers are not leaving me feeling enthused and in that sense the trailers have failed. I’m trying to make the distinction between the trailer and the film.
Trailers are supposed to make you enthusiastic to see a movie and these aren’t making me feel good about giving my money to a theatre. I’m on a budget, so I choose my movies very very carefully.
I’m still on the fence about whether or not I’ll see this movie. I’m being very put off at white women telling me what I should like simply because there are women in it. I hate their “I got mine…” attitude ,and often feel a rush to do the exact opposite that white feminists suggests, just because.
I’m still holding out hope theat “municipal historian” means something more awesome than what’s in these trailers. If I wanted to see black women get short shrift, yet again, there’s a metric ton of stuff out there that I truly enjoy and that I don’t have to shell out twenty bucks to watch, including the original films.

Agreed. I read an article saying the role was written for Melissa McCarthy (http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/entertainthis/2016/03/11/paul-feig-leslie-jones-ghostbusters-role-melissa-mccarthy/81635958/), but then Leslie Jones nailed it and the rest is history. I believe it, but the result is still that the only black woman in the quartet works for the subway for a living.
