Women of color are FOUR of the five National Book Award Finalists for Fiction.

Carmen Maria Machado is also a finalist for the Nebula Novelette award and her stories have been reprinted in Year’s Best Weird Fiction, Best American Science Fiction & Fantasy, Best Horror of the Year, and Best Women’s Erotica. (And shout out to Machado from this Philly girl. She grew up in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and is currently Artist in Residence at the University of Pennsylvania.)

Survey Participation Requirements:

You must have submitted at least one piece of short speculative fiction to a paying market in the last 12 months.
You do not have to be published in order to participate in the survey.
Speculative fiction includes fantasy, science fiction, horror, paranormal and all of their included subgenres. “Short” fiction includes shorts, novelettes, and novellas (under 40,000 words).
You must identify as Black or of the African Diaspora (to include mixed/biracial)
